Thursday seemed liked the longest day of work ever! I was over at the August Prairie jobsite. I put in shoulder's for the last half of the day. There was a storm with all kinds of freezing rain that started around 5:00 PM. I saw two accidents just on the way home. I drove up to the Ohnstadds and got there around 9:00. I was doing fine as far as driving until I got literally a minute from their house. The street next to their's was a sheet of ice, and I ended up in the ditch. It wasn't really bad, just enough to where I couldn't get out, so Joel came over with a tractor and pulled me out. My purpose of going to their house was to put me closer to the airport. Their house is about an hour from the airport, whereas the Danielson's house is about 2 1/2 hours from the airport. We stayed up until midnight talking. It was a blast!
Friday morning I woke up at 3:30 and headed out to MSP. Everything went quite smoothly, except for the fact that I forgot that my knife was in my backpack. I remembered as I was standing in security, so I dumped it in the garbage. I loved that knife like my own son!
My flights were pretty uneventful. I had about 2 liters of coffee that morning. Between that and being really excited to see Katy, I was pretty wired! Fahsha, Jen, and Danny picked me up at the Buffalo airport. Katy called me on the way back from the airport, hoping to leave a message because she thought I was at work. I told her that I didn't end up working. We talked for a little while, and then we pulled over to get some lunch, so I told her I'd call her back. I waited until we were about 2 minutes from their house, and then I called her back. She was still recovering from the surgery on her eyes, so she was sitting in the house with special tinted goggles on and a blanket over her head. As I was talking to her on the phone, we arrived at their house. I walked in and she was sitting on the couch. Everybody was like "Katy, who are you talking to? Isn't he supposed to be at work? He's not working? What a bum!" At that point I chimed in and I was like "Guys, leave me alone!" Katy freaked out, ripping the blanket off her head and putting her hands over her mouth. She was totally surprised! It was awesome!
We had fun that afternoon going over some of our old blog posts. That night was Bible Study at the Case's, so us teens just kind of hung out. Danny, Jenny, Jacquie, Abby and I did donut's in Jacquie's car. It worked a lot better when I found out that she had front-wheel drive and we started doing them in reverse. It was awesome!
Saturday morning Fahsha woke me up nice and early so that I could go with him and Katy to Canada. She was getting her eyes checked from getting PRK done. Fahsha and I share at least 2 passions: Theology and Coffee. We laced our conversations with theology and stopped for coffee twice on the trip! It was cool.
After we got back Katy, Jen, Danny and I all went to Lantz's and tried to embarrass Abby while she was working there. We ate lunch there too, which was pretty good. I got a sub. It wasn't as good as Jimmy Johns, but then again, what is?
We went to a party for Katy's grandma that afternoon, and then the fun really began! The Case kids, Jacquie and I went to Letchworth for a night walk. That was pretty cool. It was cool to go hiking in God's creation at night. After our walk we went slid down the sledding hill without any sleds. It was pretty crazy! We got going fast! After the excursion at Letchworth we tried to go for pizza, but everything was closed. I got Hot Pockets to make up for it.
I left early on Sunday morning. I flew out of Buffalo, and then had a layover in Chicago, drinking coffee all the way! Once I got to Minneapolis everything was great until I realized that my key didn't open up my car doors, it just went into the ignition. I had to get a towing company to break in, which cost me like $45. Not cool. Besides that, it was a fantastic weekend. Saturday was the best day in 2010 so far!
