I just turned in my Biology test about 20 minutes ago. The deadline for getting it in was 11:59, and it’s now 12:06. You do the math! What I had calculated as 3 hours of work ended up being about 6 hours of work. To say that my day was pretty crazy would be an understatement! The word crazy seems to be running through my blog quite a bit these days, so I want to clarify exactly what I mean when I use that word. I mean hectic, full of activities, packed with school, packed with details, filled with work, filled with growth, filled with building relationships, just all-around FULL! Even though this is a bit more stressful than a lot of my days in the past few months, I can’t help but love every minute of it! I love learning new things, (which with the insane school schedule I’m keeping, this is inevitable!), growing, learning to manage details, learning to juggle tons of different priorities, but most of all, I love serving Jesus Christ! He has given me such a joy and peace, even in the midst of “sufferings and trials”. I have put those words in quotation marks because the issues and stresses that I experience in my life seem so trivial compared to the joy that I have in knowing that Jesus Christ is my Lord and Savior.
I started out this day by checking out the weather in Chicago and Los Fresnos. We actually had a very, very mild February day, It was like 56 degrees! After eating a breakfast of Mini Wheats, which are awesome, I did the rest of my morning stuff and then headed downstairs for my time with God. After I finished that, I began organizing my desk in preparation for the tasks that I needed to complete today, but I was interrupted by mom calling me upstairs. We ended up going over all of my school stuff, and I laid out a schedule for myself. This schedule is going to be pretty rigorous, but not insane. The best part of it is, we worked it out so that I will be completely graduated by May 31st! Which, is awesome in and of itself, because it will be great to be graduated, but there is also another really awesome facet to that. Since I will be done with school by May 31st, I will in fact be able to go on the Sister Lakes team to Peru again this year! This is absolutely amazing, and I am super looking forward to being back in Peru again and serving with my Peruvian (and American!) brothers and sisters. I am becoming quite the world traveler!
So yeah, my mom and I figured out about that, and then it was time to knock a few things off of my to-do list. Ok, ok, ok, so I didn’t really start working on stuff RIGHT AWAY! I did end up calling Ian before I got started, and we talked for a bit. We’re both really excited about the opportunity to serve together in another country. I DID end up starting on my stuff right after that though! I had a bunch of studying to do in preparation for my baptism tomorrow. My uncle (who is doing the baptism) had given me a bunch of questions to research and answer, which ended up being super interesting. As I was doing this studying, I was just struck with how magnificent baptism truly is, and also how magnificent our God is! After spending some time studying those questions, I called Uncle Todd and discussed these questions with him, along with some of the logistics of the baptism. I’m really excited about this!
Wow, time really flies! By the time I finished the whole baptism thing it was right around 3:30. I threw in a load of dishes and then drove over to the library with Dad. We spent like half an hour there, and then I came back and worked on biology. 6 hours of biology later, here I am! I should probably turn in, I got a big day tomorrow!
