With the Turn of a Shovel
Today started at the fairly normal hour of 6 am. Right after breakfast I grabbed a cup of coffee and went outside to make sure my bike was in proper working order. After I was satisfied, I threw it in the van and dad drove me over to the church. Bernie, one of the older guys from my chuch, had asked me if I would be interested in helping out with the food pantry's garden. I, liking good hard work, said yes. So I arrived about 7:45 and started weeding. It was fun just getting outside and working. It was so peaceful I found myself naturally slipping into prayer. Bernie got there about 8, and he said I didn't really need to weed, just turn over dirt. Oh yeah! So we turned over a bunch of dirt, talking a bit and listening to Moody Radio. About 9:30 he left to go get some sleep, as he works the overnight shift. I worked until about 10. I had really forgotten how peaceful it is just working in the outdoors with no distractions. After I was finished working I headed over to Wendy's for some lunch. Then I went to Dominicks to pick up a Full Throttle; I got a bunch of studying to do tonite. Then I had a nice 6.5 mile bike ride home. It's been a good day so far!
