Do Not Move!

Well, this weekend has been pretty cool. I’m sitting here eating hot cereal, drinking good strong coffee, and listening to Mxpx. I started out doing school on Saturday morning, but around 1 I decided to cast school to the wind and go have a fun weekend. So I donned a sweater, beanie, and gloves and headed out for a serious bike ride. I went to the “hood” library first, stayed there for like 15 minutes, and then headed into “uncharted territory”. I rode down Fairfield Road, which is a relatively busy, but at the same time country, road. I’ve driven this road a bunch of times, and I had been hoping to ride it sometime this year, mostly because there is a big hill right before Rt. 60! Anyway, the leaves had started turning, and it was a really cool ride. I took Fairfield to Bonner, and hopped onto the Lakewood Forest Preserve trail. The way I normally go was blocked off, so if I wanted to abide by the rules, I had to detour by way of Rt. 176. As I pulled out onto the shoulder of busy Rt. 176, I began to question my own sanity. There was this massive hill that I’ve never done before, which was cool. I took the forest preserve trail all the way to Hawley, and then took that up to the Fremont Library. I stopped along the way and got several pictures. By the time I got to Fremont I was starting to get cramps. I went in the library, took like a 15 minute break, and then headed out again. Part of me wanted to take the long way home with all the hills, but I decided not to go that way because I would probably not make it home without walking! Sure enough, even taking the short way home I got cramps and had to walk the last 3 miles or so. Then I started to get cramps WHILE I WAS WALKING, so I was sitting there going “Dear God, I NEED TO GET HOME! I don’t mind my muscles getting tight, but please keep me from getting cramps!” Yeah, I think it’s safe to say I rode hard. I’ve always said that if I’m not walking part of the way home, I haven’t ridden my hardest. I got home, grabbed a bunch of food, hit the couch, and watched a few episodes of Dr. Quinn. Oh, I almost forgot, sometime around 8:30 Mike and I went "coyote hunting". We rode around our neighborhood a couple times lookiing for coyotes. The only thing we found was an office chair. I picked up said office chair (manager-type aka HEAVY AND AWKWARD!) and brought it to the top of the hilly little road by the park. I got rid of my bike, and then proceeded to push the chair to a good speed, then hop on. It was pretty awesome, except for the fact that I kept hitting the curb!

Sunday morning I ended using that extra hour for sleep, instead of for doing my Sunday school work. I did get the Sunday school work done though! We all went to Chuck’s class, which was on another controversial issue: Creation vs. Evolution. We actually ended up discussing the age of the earth more than anything. This has been a hot topic with my parents and Chuck. Sure enough, my dad and Chuck began talking after class, and I decided to join in. Chuck would be leaning toward an old earth, and my dad would be decidedly young earth. I’m not sure what I think yet, and I won’t take a stand until I have examined the science aspect very thoroughly. I would have to say that I side with Chuck in the fact that the truth in science does not threaten God or the Bible. All truth is God’s truth. I would very much like to learn more of the science aspect, so that I can be more informed. Essentially (I think), the first few chapters of Genesis are meant to describe the who and the why, not the how. The who and the why are essential to the gospel. The how is not essential to the gospel.

After driving home in the Lexus with the windows down and my hair flying in 50 different directions, I helped clean up the house. Grandma came up to our house to see Rick, as he had been moved to the Zion hospital. Mike and I went outside while the parents and grandma were gone. We pulled the ramp out and did all kinds of different stuff. I hadn’t been on blades for awhile, so I had to remember all of the old tricks and stuff. 5 of the neighborhood boys came over and watched us. I got a couple of them to lay behind the ramp, and then I jumped over them. Then I did it in reverse, jumping over them and landing on the ramp. It was pretty awesome. I made sure to tell them the one and only rule: DO NOT MOVE! Then Mike jumped off the ramp and over them with his bike. The last thing I did was to set up 2 recycling bins behind the ramp, with a 4 foot gap in between the 2nd bin and the ramp. Then I approached the ramp (on my blades) from the bin’s side, jumped over the bins, cleared the 4-foot gap, and landed on the ramp. Oh yeeeah!

Then I went inside, made myself some food, and went downstairs and watched a few episodes of Dr. Quinn. Later on I made myself some more food and watched a couple episodes of Hogan’s Heroes. Yep, I’d say I go to the extremes: crazy active and then couch potato.

Kelly! Last night, I was at VG's (this grocery store in Clio...), at the checkout. I happened to check the Orbit gum, like I always do, for Mint Mojito. Normally I glance over it, see that it's not there, and look away in disgust. But not this time! :D This time, I glanced, started to look away, glanced again, and grabbed 2 packs. I FINALLY FOUND IT!!!
